Field stripping and cleaning the Ruger LCP is easy and straight forward and in many ways is similar to field stripping and cleaning Glock pistols (which is really easy to do). Here are step by step instructions for field stripping and cleaning your LCP.
Sep 17, · The steps to field stripping a Ruger are first remove magazine. Verify chamber is empty. Next lock the slide back & push the ejector down. It is right there in the ejection port. Then align the marks on the left side of the gun & push from right to left on the end of the slide stop. pulling it out as far as it will come.
2) Remove the magazine from the pistol and release the bolt by pulling it back and releasing it (using the bolt stop to release it may eventually wear it to the point of it not locking the bolt back). Now point the pistol in a safe direction and pull the trigger (dry fire is ok with this pistol, even without a snap cap, according to Ruger). I prefer to field strip & clean brand new firearms with froglube degreaser first. I then use Ballistol or froglube clp for general cleaning-storage. I plan to get a LCP ll later on. I will add a new hogue hand all grip. I plan to use Ruger arx defense rounds or Federal hstacp.
